How much are officers paid? why don’t they work a normal schedule? how do we get a schedule like them?
Officers are paid by the hour. They are typically are underpaid commensurate with their education these days. Not so true of yesteryear.The base hourly rate is in excess of $33/hr. Police officers because of the nature of shifts and events–usually work 2 , rely on overtime to help in making additional income-some moonlight if allowed to. Shifts and hours they work are confidential but I believe they work 12 hours shifts until they make their 40 hours than are off or something similiar. There is a change up in schedules for security of the officers and public. The bad guys should not know their schedules. Officers study and work toward higher ranks which equates to higher pay, a promotion. They have good health and benefit packages. The Chief of Police is on a salary, which off the top of my head I can’t remember, but is about right for the size of the department and other factors. You can find his salary in the budget if you want (the budget is a mess to read and coded), he is the only salaried officer that I know of, unless a Captain is a salary position. I don’t see any waste in taxpayers money out of the NSPD. Unfortunately, if the rest of the City keeps wasting money on pet projects and bad ideas YOU PAY..The wasters in charge start cutting in these departments because they have big budgets.
