The House of Representatives Judiciary Committee called in Attorney General Eric Holder to testify last week on the AP reporters scandal.

During testimony under oath Eric Holder told Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) that targeting journalists was bad policy and something he’d never been involved in.

This is what Holder told Congress:

“First of all you’ve got a long way to go to try to prosecute the press for publication of material. This has not fared well in American history… In regard to potential prosecution of the press for the disclosure of material. This is not something I’ve ever been involved in, heard of, or would think would be wise policy.“

Tonight NBC News reported that Eric Holder approved the search warrant for Fox News reporter’s private emails.

Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on a controversial search warrant that identified Fox News reporter James Rosen as a “possible co-conspirator” in violations of the Espionage Act and authorized seizure of his private emails, a law enforcement official told NBC News on Thursday.

The disclosure of the attorney general’s role came as President Barack Obama, in a major speech on his counterterrorism policy, said Holder had agreed to review Justice Department guidelines governing investigations that involve journalists.

If this information at NBC News is accurate then Eric Holder lied to the Judiciary Committee last week under oath. Karl Rove pointed this out tonight on FOX News. This is a very serious development.

As reported in Minneapolis Star and Tribune, Republican Minnesota State Sen. Julianne Ortman criticized Franken, saying the letter contributed to a culture in Washington that allowed the targeting.

I would wholeheartedly agree, and more. “We urge the IRS to take … steps immediately to prevent abuse of the tax code by political groups focused on federal election activities. (CNN) – The ongoing dispute over how and where to debate the independent review of last September’s attack in Benghazi continued Friday with the subpoena of the review board’s co-chair to be deposed by congressional investigators.

Thomas Pickering, a former ambassador, has said he would prefer to testify in a public hearing of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform rather than submit to a private interview, but the panel’s chairman, Rep. Darrell Issa, wants the meeting behind closed doors before any open session.

“While I am very much committed to having you testify publicly and appreciate your new found willingness to do so, I was disappointed that you are attempting to limit the Committee’s understanding of the Accountability Review Board by refusing to participate in a voluntary transcribed interview prior to testifying publicly,” Issa wrote to Pickering on Friday.

“In light of your continuing refusal to appear voluntarily for a transcribed interview, however, I have found it necessary to issue a subpoena to compel your appearance at a deposition.”

The last words from Obama was “I am unfamiliar with these whistle-blowers”. In Washington, the FAA budget cuts prompted an outcry from critics of the Obama administration.

Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee said the following:

 “We know that the FAA has the flexibility to reduce costs elsewhere, such as contracts, travel, supplies and consultants, or to apply furloughs in a manner that better protects the most critical air traffic control facilities”

“Yet rather than take this approach, the administration has made choices that appear designed to have the greatest possible impact on the traveling public.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney blamed Republicans for the cuts, calling the FAA furloughs “an unfortunate result” of botched budget negotiations in Congress. He said 70% of FAA’s expenses are for personnel, and that the agency could not accomplish the necessary cost reductions elsewhere.
