These liberals have an insatiable appetite for control . Their sights are set on the next meal even before they have digested their last one! They’re always looking for the next crisis; constantly  lurching forward to the next social war on this and the next war on that. Now it’s guns (again). These liberals are constantly agitating for more government action and intrusion into our lives. In furtherance of those purposes, the liberals speak in the tongue of demagogue, concocting one pretext and grievance after another, to manipulate public perceptions and build popular momentum for the divestiture of liberty and property from rightful possession. Thus this new gun crisis: they couldn’t wait for the next thing to peddle their softy tyranny agenda. What could be better than a crazy person with guns at a school? It was a perfect opportunity to pounce (forget decency) and they did not waste one second, even while parents were burying their kids, they were scheming and conniving.

The modern liberal believes in themselves first and foremost, then the state and how they appear to others. They believe people are not able to govern themselves, thereby rejecting the principles of Declaration and the order of the civil society. They believe the individual’s imperfection and personal pursuits impede the objective of a utopian state. Minnesota has been creeping into soft tyranny since the Industrial Revolution. Not surprising, many immigrants came out of this style of government and passed it along to their descendants here. These congressman probably can’t help themselves since I believe you have to be mentally ill to follow their statist viewpoint, they should be last to own, let alone touch a gun. The statist/liberal veils their pursuits in moral indignation, intoning in high dudgeon the injustices and inequities of liberty and life itself, for which only THEY can provide justice and bring in righteous resolution. Statists don’t have firmly held principles as the they would like you to believe, but rather everything is relative to them.

Any government with the power to mother it’s citizens also has the power to dominate them and steal from them: to overtax them, confiscate their property and override their binding agreements. For this reason, the legally enforceable institutions of society must be very limited, lest the government be charged with protecting the people against tyranny and theft becomes itself, the most dangerous tyrant and thief. They don’t get it, and they don’t or won’t concede to basic truths that are eternal, these liberals are truly sick individuals veiled in piety.

In Minnesota anything surrounding such nonsensical legislation could damage the economy severely. But they must move on without thinking. Hunting/manufacturing of arms/sporting weapons/tourism is a multi-billion dollar industry just waiting for the demo-creeps to ruin it.  This isn’t about hunting, this ban would not have saved one life at Sandyhook. When the damage is done they will be stunned and mortified at first,  then blame someone else, or some other scapegoat, when it is wrecked because they NEVER think before they speak. Even so, when they talk, they make irrational statements. They love to pontificate and see and hear themselves on TV an other broadcasts. Because it’s really all about them…

Minnesota is one of the most liberal states in America and currently all 3 branches of it’s government are controlled by democrats. Governor Dayton first stated that he was “not going to take an issue with this” since Minnesota already has a strong uniform background check system and permit to purchase requirement.

But once the big blue Obama bird decided to show up it was time to check your Depends® to make sure they don’t leak.  Most of the sheeple that live here don’t even realize that they are led by bona fide Socialists, not much different between here and places like Norway or Denmark. Norway might even be more free as far as liberties are concerned. I doubt any of these sponsors above have so much as put a worm on a hook and if they did, I bet it was a horrible event for them, causing extreme distress or sorrow, because the worm became a victim. Maybe we should also ban fishing? These people are very dangerous to a future existence of a free state and you to enjoy the freedoms that were laid out long ago by people who were far smarter than them.

Minnesota House Bill 241 Bill Title: Assault weapons; crime established for manufacturing, transferring, or possessing assault weapons; existing assault weapon disposal or registration provided for; terms defined; data classified; language clarified; and penalties provided.  Status: 2013-02-06 – Author added Kahn

A quick check leads me to believe this may be unconstitutional, in part. Remember, MN has no modified 2nd Amendment in it’s Bill of Rights, they defer only to the U.S. constitution. Just a few states are like this; most states allow for stronger citizen  protections. How many times must I say this? THE U.S. CONSTITUTION SAYS:

“Shall not be infringed upon”

The bill has provisions that violate Article I, Section 9, Clause 3 of the U.S. Constitution in that it would be an Ex Post Facto Law. In essence, it is unconstitutional for them to apply this bill to firearms that were owned by individuals on 31, Jan 13.

On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, Adam Ballard, the product manager at DPMS Panther Arms located in St. Cloud, Minnesota, testified in opposition to the bill. DPMS is an established black rifle company that has been supplying civilians, law enforcement and military with firearms and accessories since 1985. They are the second largest AR-15 manufacturer in the United States. Other states are currently opening their arms for them to move along with other gun makers.

They should also talk to the folks at Mills Fleetfarm HQ in Brainerd, MN with 32 locations and 6000 employees.

Send letters and emails to the above sponsors and tell them they are gone next election cycle unless they change their positions. Send all of your Senators and Congressman letters, emails or call them and tell them that this is not how American legislators conduct the constituents business. This was brought forth as soon as they came in session. This ban does not deal with a multitude of cultural and mental health problems. They are doing this for PURE politics and to grab more control of more and more of you freedoms. This one is pretty clear cut. I will add another example letter for you to cut and paste.

DEAR ELECTED OFFICIAL________________________

It is my understanding that the President of the United States has decided to take on the issue of Gun Rights for Americans as a result of the recent tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut. The President has appointed the Vice President of the United States to lead an administration-wide effort to curb gun violence in America, and has vowed to use “whatever power this office holds” in efforts to prevent “more tragedies like this” referring to the massacre that occurred in Newtown, Connecticut.

The Mainstream Media continues to portray that all Americans are asking for gun control as a result of the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. That is not true. A recent Gallup Poll showed Americans feel that an increased police presence at schools, increased government spending on mental health screening and treatment, and decreased depiction of gun violence in entertainment venues would be effective in preventing mass shootings at schools. I encourage you to research this as you draft the way ahead on curbing gun violence in America.

As my elected official, you will undoubtedly be asked to participate on committee in order to draft a way ahead to solve the problem of gun violence in America. As my elected officials, you will undoubtedly be asked to vote on potential bill(s) that may affect my gun rights as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States of America. Specifically, the Second Amendment which reads:

“A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

As a law-abiding citizen of the United States of America, it is imperative that you not infringe on my right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the United States Constitution written by the Founding Fathers. It is your responsibility as my elected official to dutifully represent the will of The People, correctly interpret The United States Constitution, and diligently reflect on court cases throughout our proud history as you draft the way-ahead to curb gun violence.

There are approximately 65 million gun owners in the United States who enjoy the protection of our Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment protects their right and the right of every citizen to legally own and operate guns. This right has been protected in courts over the course of a hundred plus years.

The Supreme Court recognized that the right to arms is an individual right in U.S. v. Cruikshank (1876), Presser v. Illinois (1886), Miller v. Texas (1894), U.S. v. Miller (1939) and U.S. v. Verdugo-Urquidez (1990). In U.S. v. Cruikshank, the Court also recognized that the right pre-existed the Constitution. Most recently in 2010, the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment, which forbids Congress from infringing the right to keep and bear arms, also applies to state and local governments.

Since our inalienable rights include life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, we cannot exercise those rights if we are not safe. Self-protection and the ability to fight against tyranny are core values that our Founding Fathers believed and embedded within The Constitution. They envisioned a citizenry that must protect itself. The Second Amendment guarantees my right to protect myself and my family.

Attempts to institute a ban on certain types of weapons is nothing short of telling the American People what type of guns they can own as it pertains to the Second Amendment. What will you do next? Tell the American People what kind of religion they can practice as it pertains to the First Amendment?

Those who oppose our Second Amendment would like for us to believe in a government that protects it’s people. They would like to strip peaceful citizens of their basic right to safety in an attempt to achieve safe neighborhoods. However, a vibrant democracy demands that we protect ourselves, because we are the embodiment of democracy and government is but our tool. Further regulating gun ownership only affects law-abiding citizens, resulting in criminals operating guns.

As a law-abiding citizen of this great land, it must be said that the focus should rest upon education and the enforcement of current laws. Gun safety education has lowered accidental deaths to less than 1% of all accidental deaths. Therefore, those who willingly use guns irresponsibly must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

As it can be seen, there are choices we must face individually and as a nation. If we decide to give our government too much control, we will be making it an arbiter for determining our fate instead of helping us to determine our own fate. Restricting every citizen’s freedom is a dangerous proposition with grave consequences.

Do we want a larger government that envelopes our lives in the name of safety or do we want a smart government that helps teach us to be responsible and free? Some people believe that we can only be safe when government inhibits our basic freedom, making it harder to protect ourselves. This is a government that evades issues of personal responsibility, holds the actions of criminals against those who are law-abiding, and regulates our lives for us.

Our other choice is that we fashion a smart government that helps teach us to be responsible and free. The millions of Americans who support this view believe that we can only be safe when we are informed of the issues and make decisions for ourselves. These Americans know the danger of fashioning a powerful government and a weak citizenry. Reflect on the war that was fought against England to attain our freedom; remember what risks our Founding Fathers took to obtain a free society and a government that was not intrusive.

I ask you, which government would you rather fashion? Which government helps you to be free?

Reflect on our gun laws and future bills thoughtfully, as the consequences of your decisions will affect the civil rights of every inhabitant within our United States of America. As a constituent, I can make this promise to you…If you vote in favor of this bill I will vote you out of office.

!st off it’s not an assault rifle! It’s a semi auto rifle that LOOKS like a military rifle. The way they are classifying them makes my 35 year old .22 squirrel gun illegal. 2nd if they are for military use , why do cops need them? 3rd Because it a right, To Protect from Enemies Foreign and Domestic. 4th. Last time in 1994 we compromised, they kept taking. Next handguns, then shotguns, then freedom of speech! A bolt action has to the trigger pulled each shot, lever action is the same way..This is so much crap THAT NUT Phyllis Kahn serving her 21st term. What the hell? There’s the problem.
